EARNING CREDITS:

Here is how the BIS program gives adult students greater opportunities to complete a baccalaureate degree.

  • Degree requirements facilitate the transfer of credits from other accredited colleges.
  • Murray State accepts the credit recommendations of the American Council on Education for military courses and for non-collegiate sponsored courses.
  • BIS students may apply for credit in Murray State courses by submitting educational portfolios.
  • BIS. students, like other Murray State students, may earn credit by CLEP examinations and departmental challenge tests.
  • The Learning Contract makes it possible to complete the requirements of some MSU courses without attending classes.

*Formerly the Bachelor of Independent Studies program. Beginning December 2007, students who graduate from the BIS program will earn a Bachelor of Integrated Studies degree.
