The purpose of the Training Resource Center is to provide professional development, continuing education, and training support to social workers, foster parents, and adoptive parents of the Department for Community Based Services/Cabinet for Families and Children. This support includes, but is not limited to, the provision of on-the-floor training, facilitation and coordination of training, conference and meeting planning, and the identification of trainers. Services provided by the TRC include computer literacy training, CPR/First Aid training, AIDS/HIV training, and the coordination, development, and writing of grants related to social services and training. Training is provided both on the campus of MSU and at various locations throughout the state to meet the needs of staff and foster and adoptive parents. The department is committed to providing its employees with the necessary professional development and training to ensure that they are able to meet the demands of their job in a professional manner. Professional development and training are seen as important vehicles in the enhancement of job performance and improvement of service delivery. As a result of this commitment to quality service delivery, the TRC works with the Department for Community Based Services/Cabinet for Families and Children to enhance the delivery of professional training development activities. The TRC is a professional development program funded by the Department for for Community Based Services/Cabinet for Families and Children through the use of federal Title IV-E funds (Adoption Assistance and Child Welfare Act of 1980).
